You may think what is the big deal - tulips? I live in Florida. We don't have springtime tulips. I found out by surprise that bulb plants like tulips, need to be frozen ground. The ground does not freeze in Florida, hence no tulips.

Doors of Georgetown
Georgetown was founded and 1751, and remains a remarkably preserved area of Washington DC.
I took these pictures of doors that are decorated for Christmas while strolling through Georgetown.
According to trulia.com, the average sale price is this area is $1.3 million, so I may have to remain content with visiting Georgetown and admiring the houses from the sidewalk for now.

Adventures in Washington DC
I am visiting a friend in Washington D.C.
This isn't the first time I have been here, and I am fairly certain it won't be my last. The things that make this trip so interesting is the federal government shutdown is going on right now. Many government employees are not going to work, and are not sure when they will go back to work.
Congress seems to be deadlocked on whether or not to fund the Affordable Care Act, so the federal government has shut down.
Frankly, I can't tell the difference.
